Is there really a need to consider on dividing the community up in skill levels? What do you think reader? I think we can all agree that 'Team David' vs 'Team Goliath' spectacle makes competitive events thrilling and yet boring epics. This depends on the outcome, which results mostly in... 'Team Goliath' raping thumping 'Team David' ...over and over. Not fun for anyone that thrives on true competition. Thats only fun for those that are in to 's' & 'm' think about it. I for one would die happy watching e3rrt (did I do that right?) rule the universe of DP as it is now but its become lifeless and stale. Well those are just more random thoughts of a caring DP player. Merry Christmas S8n and Taco. I took the time to honor you both and pay homage to your contributions. Which are much more than most and have helped make this game better and from what I have witnessed are fair. I am sorry for any disrespect in the past, that is not my style. So please don't take the pics the wrong way. They are meant as a sign of respect and also how much I suck at mocking someone. What is the old proverb about imitation? Feel free to fire back with taste and take a active lead in making this community larger and better. As Always, Peace to you and yours and good will towards DP. HO HO HO! +

Thanks for pointing that out. I edited it, a bit.
I am asking a question.
I also pointed out some aspects why the current model is bad for growth. I liked DP 3 years ago. I wish it did not have to change. Alot of games split players into different catagories. They do this to make sure the competition remains even and fun for all and not so one sided, which I really dont agree with. Pbcup was a great example of why there would not need to be a division. But look how fragile it was. It took one player and a half of a clan to make it no longer popular.
Thus back to the orginal question and why I asked it. I dont know what would be best, but what ever it is, the current situation is not at all condusive to growth.
Sk8ter, All things aside, how about some input from you all knowing wise elder best ever. I would love to see one post that shows a bit of respect towards the game and one where your point is not made by putting others down. I DARE YOU to care. Show some fortitude please and speak as if you have intentions of making this game better. So far what are your contributions? Ban, Ban, evade ban, cheat, name calling etc etc... yawns.
I look forward to anything intellegent you can type, you have the potential to help or harm. Make your decision. That goes for anyone still using alises, thinks that cheating is a badge of pride or that 'raping' newbs in DP is good for the game.

This link has been pasted at least twice in response to comments you've made. I guess it wasn't clear enough that this crap will not be tolerated on my forum. I was going to warn you again but frankly, I'm tired of this shit. If you haven't matured after a 24 hour ban, then you can find a new place to post because you will no longer be welcome at my forum.

Will you ever learn to post without flaming and calling people out of their names Shane?? Attitudes like yours are more annoying and damaging to this game and any forum than anything.

Nice to see the forums finally moderated. No offence Jitspoe, but you are way too soft on some people. Is it Nazi control? not really...its just implementing some sort of control on a anarchist society. Not saying the vast majority of the members are anarchist…but there are a few out there that want to destroy the game. Let them have their way...and see where the game goes. Look how bad it has gotten in the last year or so.
I see this game getting worse unless something changes.

I'm finding this forum to be a healthy detour from the things we had to deal with before. I actually found myself getting along with Skater (Shane) on GRaFFiTi servers today.
I know we can get along as there was a time long long ago when we did. Maybe it's time to bury our explosive and sometimes childish antics. Lord knows I really don't like having enemies and have my moments as well.
Shane is probably calling me a soft, OLD FAT Kentucky fried chicken eatin mother fucker or other colorful metaphors right now but seriously, I hope the new year brings in new attitudes and good things for the game many of us have played for so very long.

Aside from the action taken against SkateR, there has been no moderation.

Stupidity is not a reason for comments though. The best way to defeat stupidity is to ignore it.
On the other hand, perhaps it is not stupidity that you are seeing, but rather a new player that does not understand the game itself making seemingly idiotic comments about something that you find is trivial. Then there are those that make silly comments for no sensible reason.
Still...the best way to avoid a flamer (or creating flames) is to ignore the inflammatory comments to begin with. But to insult or degrade someone that makes idiotic statements will certainly create flames where they are not needed.
Temper your statements towards others and you will come out on top most of the time.
Jitspoe, The action taken towards Skater is not the only action that I have seen. I refer to the 'Sticky' about good will towards others (or what ever it says) and keeping the forums a 'clean' place. I also have not seen the sort of attitude that was on the original forums. I think it is fairy refreshing, personally. -Derrek

I'd show you the massive post listing all the things people have been banned for on the old forums, but...
I probably deleted 5-10 posts a day on average (some days things got out of hand and jumped up to maybe 20-30) for flame/flame bait/off-topicness and probably got in about 1 temp ban per week (not counting all the spam since email activation was disabled). I'm not striving for any moderation awards, but I do find it a little bit insulting that the previous forums weren't considered moderated.
Edit: I even temp banned Picasso (for calling people idiots, I think -- can't remember the specifics). I try not to show any bias and act solely on the content of the post to discourage personal attacks and other bad behavior. Though that did upset him and prompt him to delete all of his paintball2 data, so perhaps I was over zealous?

I don't know what the post said, but if it was bad enough to be deleted, then it should have been deleted. It doesn't really matter who the poster is.

Sorry Jit, but I too feel that the previous forums were not Moderated enough. With the small community that we have, and you deleting anywhere from 5 to 20 posts a day, there are other issues. I am a moderator on a board with over 70k members with just under 1k of posts per day. We barely delete ( move as we never delete) 5 posts a day. Derrek hit the nail on the head: Nice to see the forums finally moderated. No offence Jitspoe, but you are way too soft on some people. To be honest, I don't think it was a lack of moderation. Look at the people registered here, you will notice that a majority of the people that are usually causing an uproar are absent. If we go back to the old forums and none of those people return, moderation will not be a problem.

Simply deleting posts and occasionally giving small temp bans to repeat offenders clearly did not solve the problem. You referred to them as "hyper kids" and as far as I am concerned, if these so called hyper kids are too immature to use common respect towards others without insulting them or demeaning their ideas with ridicule, then they have no business on the forum to begin with.
So far it seems to me that those who have come over to this forum have listened to the warnings of the Administration of this forum and are complying just fine.
I will also say thanks to those who are making a great attempt to control themselves. It makes a forum like this what it should be, a common place for friendly or helpful discussion.
Jitspoe, the problem, as I have said many times on the other forum was the same repeat offenders over and over again.
I think you do a fine job with all that you have to juggle but to nip the issues we're talking about in the bud you simply need to do as Supermercado and elmono did.
Give one very strong warning that behaviors of this type WILL NOT be tolerated on your forums, edit the offensive post as they did, and ban for one week the first time.
2nd offense, by the same person give them a 1 month ban.
3rd offense, give a perm ban and be done with it.
It also wouldn't hurt if you had someone you feel would be fair and impartial to help you moderate the forums.
