Since it's less than a month to the start of the NASCAR season, I thought I'd ask.
I wrote up some ABCs of NASCAR or what I learned at my first (but not last) NASCAR race. Would anyone be interested in reading that? It's kind of long so I hesitate to post it here but let me know. Might help bcpassion quite a bit in understanding the people she lives with. And why her granddaughter came back from Dizzy World with a complete Jeff Gordon outfit.

I'd be curious to see it. I think I've got a pretty decent concept of racing, but it might be a good read.

Post it! I'd love to see it and sadly I know the least about NASCAR now that the Niklewski trio have researched it and sponged the info to death. Now I'm the learner. LOL

That's Chris for you. When he takes an interest in something, he really takes an interest in something and becomes an expert overnight

i'd be curious. not to be the jerk and stereotype things, but i associate NASCAR with a buncha whacko whitetrash crazy southern people. NOw granted I used to live in Texas and LOVE texas, they have their fair share of those people too. Ive been tempted to look at NASCAR, but it seemed to be the big fad a few years ago, and Super knows how i feel bout fads. so now that it dont seem so trendy, itd be interesting at least.

A lot of people associate NASCAR with the white trash image. The truth of the matter is that white trash used to be the ones that were driving the cars, but they were referred to as 'Good 'ol boys'.
The fans weren't much to look at and would rather fight it out when their driver didn't win than go to a bar and party when their driver DID win.
I became involved with NASCAR when it was not a fad and I fell in love with the sport. What annoyed me is that I found a driver that I respected and then all of a sudden everyone started liking NASCAR AND my driver. Jeff Gordon brought a lot of people to the sport and the drivers today are keeping them interested.

I have a friend who calls NASCAR "KneckCAR". For the Cup race in Atlanta, we sat behind "normal" people and in front of rednecks. Oh, Vengeance, guess what? The rednecks were the Gordon fans and the "normal" people were Jr fans. Once it was apparent that Gordon wasn't going to win the race, the 'necks left.

I always thought rednecks were Earnhardt fans and the white collar people were Gordon fans

The crime is what they are doing to NASCAR right now. You can't take races away from places like Rockingham and Darlington and call it the same sport. The sport was built on those damn tracks and now they're essentially closing one of them? gj corporate America, you've succeeded in bastardizing another sport.

Don't even get me started on NASCAR taking races away from those tracks. Poor elmono had to deal with my rants and raves about it already. What's next? No more Daytona?

"Having NASCAR pull out of Charlotte would be comparable to having the NFL leave Chicago, but NASCAR pulling out of Darlington, S.C., would be comparable to the NFL forsaking Green Bay. It happened. Beginning in 2004, Darlington will have its prized possession, the 53-year-old Southern 500, kidnapped and relocated far, far away, to Fontana, Calif. Darlington will keep two races but, lose its traditional Labor Day weekend date. North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham will lose the date that, indirectly, California Speedway would acquire." 100% craptastic. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0FCH/is_6_31/ai_106096832

Yeah, instead we get cookie cutter tracks to replace it, like Texas Motor Speedway. At least Phoenix is unique enough with that dogleg on the backstretch but I still don't know why Phoenix warrants a second date. I'm happy to say, though, that NASCAR is finally listening to fans and the track they're building in New York City is going to be a short track

eh nascars all bout drivin a car that can just turn left haha. im not doggin the sport, but i just can't get excited about watchin a whole race. i like to watch some of the european races through the cities or the endurance races out in baja. nascars a unique breed and more power to the people of america for being able to continue to fuel their sport.

It's actually much more than turning left, especially when the tires start wearing out and you have to fight loose and tight conditions

Kenny Wallace in the lead. Hmmm, what race is Vengeance watching? Just kidding. I like Kenny. He's a hoot.
