PASADENA, Calif. - A shopping cart that had been hoisted atop a supermarket flagpole by pranksters fell on a store employee and broke her neck.

The cart fell Saturday as the woman untied the rope to raise the flag, as she did every day when she went to work, police Lt. Lisa Perrine said Tuesday.

Shantie Marjal, 62, was hospitalized in serious condition. Police said she broke her neck and suffered serious head injuries but was not paralyzed.

Police Chief Bernard Melekian urged the pranksters to come forward.

"There is someone who knows who did this, and we want to talk with them. This prank could have been deadly," he said Tuesday. "As it is, it has ruined a woman's life as she knows it."

I can relate to that woman.  You can survive a broken neck and serious head injuries, the proof is typing this.  However, your life changes drastically.  I can't life anything over 30 pounds and have to hold onto the handrail going down steps because any kind of fall could be fatal.  Sure, it gets me out of doing some things but I'd rather be 100%.

Damn kids.  Another reason not to like Halloween.
