So far they are saying it was a fixed-wing, multi-engined aircraft that crashed in a cluster of residential skyscrapers. They say it is an accident and the FAA confirmed it was a plane and not a helicopter. But the location of the crash boggles me as to how a plane could have possibly crashed there... unless the pilot died

I'm pretty sure the pilot died.  Just maybe not before the collision.

He might have also jumped out and pressed "9".

Saw this posted at ATOT and it's weird... Write today's date, slightly modified, on a piece of paper: 10-11-6. Turn it upside down.

He'd have to press "E" first and then "9." And in typical fashion, I bet he didn't warn the other people he was going to do that and they only noticed when the plane started for the ground, leaving everybody to scramble to press "E" and then "9." Unfortunately, crashing to the ground is quicker than pressing "E" and "9" so many perish by bailing but not having enough time to press "9" and thus either splatter on the ground or get blown up when the plane hits.

I disagree with the parachute being "9". "Z" makes so much more sense to me. Or something close to the left hand. How do you press 9 if you're jumping off a short building? Right hand, left hand? What if you miss when you reach over to it?

Apparently the plane was registered to Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and he died in the crash

I use z for prone, and you can't deploy your parachute until you've been falling for a couple seconds, anyway.  I should probably bind a closer key, though.

Amazing that only two people were killed. I guess it's fortunate that it was the middle of the afternoon and most people were at work.
