Teen dies after tractor slides into manure pit

HIGGINSVILLE -- A 19-year-old man has died in a farming accident near Middle Musquodoboit in central Nova Scotia.

RCMP said the man was using a small tractor near a manure pit Sunday morning in Higginsville when the tractor slid in and became submerged.

The young man, who has not been identified, suffocated as a result, police said.

It was the second farm fatality in the province in less than a week.

Police said Brian Gordon MacDonald, 46, of East Lake Ainslie was killed Friday evening after he was pinned under a tractor.
