This is now the official Transformers movie discussion thread. I managed to get all the threads about this movie into one merged topic. I hope I didn't miss any.Good lord, now I'm questionable about the Transformers movie. The only revealed guy that I like is the fact that Starscream is an F-22. Optimus Prime is apparently a firetruck and Bumblebee is going to start out as a 1970s Camaro. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of his name Bumblebee? You know, a BUG? As in Volkwagen Beetle?! Apparently he's going to be then rebuilt as a 2008/2009 Camaro. Here's the link.

The crack journalists at Access Hollywood have gotten the first glimpse at robot footage from Transformers, making me worry if Entertainment Tonight will finally be surpassed as the hardest-hitting journalism on television. The footage, videotaped from the screen of a video monitor, is about the same quality as the bootleg of Click I bought on the street last week but somehow managed to have less enjoyable content. The effects are so preliminary that it looks like they're made for a local attorney's commercial. They just need to add a number to call if you're attacked unfairly by a Transformer. But if the video reveals one thing, it's that the movie will involve cars that transform into robots. Ain't It Cool has trimmed the crap off the clip and has it here. |

I've seen some test footage of them transforming and I've been impressed. One was a blue and white semi transforming... although we know it's not Optimus Prime because he's a frickin fire truck in the movie

Thanks to Yahoo's extremely reliable streaming media viewer, I had to glean this information in boring text form from Ain't It Cool News. Screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci hosted a chat mere hours ago where they answered fan-submitted questions about their upcoming Transformers film, and one of the revelations was the official list of which big robots are appearing.
In the Autobot camp, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Ratchet and Ironhide will fight for good.
In the Decepticon camp, the Autobots will be out-numbered by Megatron, Starscream, Brawl, Bonecrusher, Barricade, Skorpinok, Frenzy and Blackout.
Kurtzman and Orci didn't reveal if the battle had a clear victor in the end. If Dane Cook gets eviscerated by a few Constructions, the winner is stand-up comedy.

More robot designs from Transformers have slipped out, these of the evil leader Megatron. I absolutely hate it as a Transformer design, but love it as the alien rapist in an anime porn. It's way too much. If only these designers could strike some kind of balance between updated modern looks, classic design and alien rapist. Pics |

i gotta tell you.... being the self-proclaimed Transformers guru around here... I'm very open to new stuff and all TF-wise, but even as a total redesign for anything... ack.
Le sigh. I refuse to buy the toy for that one, though I'll prolly end up with all the other figures.

As non-transformers as it looks, I am kind of impressed by the drawing. At first glance, I thought it was CG, but upon closer inspection, it's drawn and painted. I guess that means it's just concept art and might end up not looking like that.

It's a truck with flames on it. That doesn't make it a fire truck?  And aren't all transformers anime robots? The article makes an interesting point, though: How the heck are they going to make toys out of these? I mean, just the old school blocky transformers were a pain to figure out. I can't imagine a kid trying to transform something that looks like it has 20 moving parts in its foot alone. |
