Yeah, but have any of you been to see a professional orchestra? (and on someone else's dime no less)

That would blow me away. The symphony here has some concerts and I would love to go. My fave idea is to go put a blanket down on the grass and listen to them play in the summer. They do concerts about every week.

I've never seen a professional orchestra but I've played in some very good ensembles. Not quite the same thing, I know. There were some very talented musicians in the All-State Band when I was there in '99. That's probably the most talented group of performers I've seen. That I recall, anyway.

The one thing CS is good for... guy I used to run a server with worked at Lincoln Center in NYC.  I went up one weekend and traded him a magical CD for two seats for the New York Philharmonic ($80 seats... and two of them... wow).  They only played three pieces, but when you're talking full classical pieces... anyway, the last was The Firebird and the whole place basically jumped up in applause as it ended.  Was really really cool Smiley

I love The Firebird. We played part of it in our marching show sophomore year. Awesome stuff.

Firebird is an awesomely kickass song.  Though the 6 to 5 marching was a crazy trial by fire.

Nothing does beat a good symphony performance.
