Pretec Electronics Corp. has started shipping a new ruggedized USB flash drive called the i-Disk BulletProof, which is bulletproof, waterproof and fireproof, according to the company. Capacities range from 32 MB to 2 GB.
The i-Disk BulletProof is constructed with double layers of sealed protective metal, capable of preventing circuit damage from water, fire, and even shielding the heavy impact of a bullet, making i-Disk BulletProof the most rugged USB flash drive in the world, according to Pretec.

The i-Disk BulletProof is also fast: up to 20MB/s, according to the company.

Pretec also announced recently that it can custom design a premium version of i-Disk BulletProof under special arrangement that can achieve speeds of 266X, up to 40MB/s or that has strong security features, including password protection, encryption, write protection, and/or pre-defined or user-defined auto-execute files for identification purpose.

Pretec i-Disk BulletProof is now shipping. Pricing has not been announced.

Really not seeing the purpose of a bulletproof USB drive. Waterproof and fireproof, okay, yeah. But bulletproof? That's just cuz they can.
