Eric Gregg Dies

Eric Gregg passed away yesterday after suffering from a massive stroke. Gregg was a former major league baseball umpire in the National League. I must have seen the man in action hundreds of times since I was such a fan of the Phillies back in the late 70s and early 80s. Gregg always wore a smile and had such a wonderful attitude. He struggled with his weight, at one point ballooning up to over 400 pounds. He was fined by the league for reported over 300. He was a victim of the ill-fated umpire strike in 1999 and lost his job but remained upbeat and in the Philadelphia area. RIP to a very good man.
